Fred is an elephant that wears a GPS collar. The Mara Elephant Project monitors him. By monitoring collared elephants, it is possible to understand their movements, including home ranges and migratory routes. It also provides a better understanding of how changing land use patterns are impacting the species, including how elephants interact in community areas.
